American-ready terminology

Just been listening to some of Newsnight's reporting on President Bush's announcement on the increased military numbers in Iraq.
Obviously important news, but of course I'm more hung up on the language used.

Initially this was going to be a "surge" in troop figures; then it was called a "plus-up", in a beautifully mangled piece of English.

Why not go the whole hog and just have GW announce that he is going to supersize it.
